My earliest memories include the traditions of watching The Nutcracker starring Mikael Baryshnikov on PBS and The Sound of Music at holiday time. Baryshnikov’s gravity-defying leaps and the enchanted story of a the nutcracker coming to life and transporting a little girl to an enchanted land had me entranced. The Sound of Music is not strictly a Christmas story, but the song “My Favorite Things” captures the healing ability of the Christmas spirit as it recalls the things that make us all happy.
Since then, Christmas movie marathons have become a treasured family activity at holiday time. Here are some of my favorites. Please feel to add your own, or any I have left out, in the comments section. This list is bound to grow with the years!
