If you checked out my EPIC camping party post a few weeks ago, you know that my daughter Leilani and I were planning to host the ultimate camping and EPIC kids movie viewing party. We held our camping party on August 11, 2013, and I’m delighted to report that it was a success! Check out this slide show to see how much our guests enjoyed the “great outdoors”…right in our own backyard!
There is nothing better than getting kids outside to explore nature in order for them to appreciate how very important it is to respect and protect it. We planned our kids nature hunt in the backyard using these activity sheets, which you can download at the following links:
Of course no camping party would be complete without smores! It’s very easy to fix them in your oven.
Six graham crackers, broken in half to make twelve halves
2 cups marshmallows or enough to place on top of graham cracker halves
4 Hershey bars
Set your oven to broil
Break graham crackers in half and place six halves on a cookie sheet. Add marshmallows on top of the graham crackers.
Place in oven and set time for 1 minute. This might be enough time, depending on your oven. You have to watch the marshmallows LIKE A HAWK if you don’t want to end up with a charred marshmallow mass like I did the first time around. I suggest setting your timer in one minute intervals (or less!)
Take your marshmallow grahams out of the oven.
Lay a 2-inch piece of your Hershey bar on top of each marshmallow graham.
The hot marshmallows will melt the chocolate.
Cover the marshmallow chocolate grahams with the unused remaining halves of the graham crackers and voila, you’ve got smores!
It’s very easy to make:
1/2 litre of lemon lime soda
1/2 can frozen limeaid
Lemon lime orange sherbet scoops
Mix together and enjoy!
We settled back and enjoyed a copy of EPIC on DigitalHD, and it looked gorgeous on my TV Screen.
Stay tuned for more exciting coverage of EPIC from Reel Mama, including an interview with Marigold Girl Emma Kenney!
