Disclosure: This is post is brought to you by Groupon. All opinions are 100% Reel Mama. I only blog about products and services that I believe are fabulous, and that you’ll love.
I’ve learned there are two kinds of moms: the kind who plan, and the kind who rush around in a last-minute scramble. I’ll be honest, I fall into that second category WAY more often than I’d like to admit. Maybe we all do at some point. Life gets in the way.
So on our way to my daughter’s friend’s birthday party recently, I was driving with my feet while wrapping her gift. Okay, I probably would have if I could have, but I was in a rush to figure out how I was going to make that just-bought gift presentable. My daughter would need to sign the card, carefully spelling out a heartfelt message and doodling some meaningful art for posterity. Oh, and don’t forget to remove the price tag…so many thoughts as we were on our way to this party and trying not to get lost.
If only we hadn’t had to make that last-minute pit stop at the toy store an hour before the party, racing through the aisles with my baby son’s stroller. Then my daughter debating: would it be the sparkly pink fairy costume…the princess doll…the baby version of the princess doll…the bath toy version of the princess doll…and the list went on. And somehow I always spend too much.
It hit me: there has got to be a better way. As always, leave it to a blogger buddy to come to the rescue. When I told her my sad story, she felt my pain, and then directed me to the Groupon Goods website. I had no idea that Groupon had deals on products, and I was very pleasantly surprised to discover that there are lots of great options for birthday gift ideas for kids, many at more than half off.
I did a search for Disney, and a lot of really cute options came up that would make very affordable and thoughtful birthday gifts for kids. Here are just a few items that came up in my search:
* Disney Tinkerbell initial pendants in sterling silver for $12.99 (originally $29.99)
* Disney and Star Wars beach towels for $12.99 each (originally $30)
* Disney Princess 5-book bundle for $19.99 (originally $39.95)
* Disney Frozen hair accessories collection for $7.99 (originally $9.99)
* 48% off subscription to “Disney Princess” or “Disney Junior” for $14.99 (originally $28.97)
Under the “Entertainment”/”Movies & TV”/Kids & Family” category, I found a number of great titles including Disney movies like Frozen and Brave for $29.99 and wonderful Japanese anime classics like Princess Mononoke on sale for $17.99 (originally $19.99).
Needless to say, I’m not going to leave getting the kids’ birthday gifts until the last minute again. In fact, I’m going to stock up and have some cute gifts ready to go. Check them out, and maybe enjoy finding something lovely for yourself while you’re at it.
