Monsters University Mike and Sulley cupcakes

Monsters Inc. and Monsters University offer creative inspiration of monster-sized proportions when it comes to birthday parties.  The internet is full of scary-rrific creative ideas for Monsters Inc and Monsters University desserts.  At my house, we love cupcakes, so to celebrate Monsters University’s fearsomely big opening this weekend, my daughter and I came up with these designs for Mike and Sulley cupcakes.

Check out my Monsters University review!

Monsters University Mike Wazowski cupcake

To create the Mike Wazowski cupcake you’ll need:

*  Cupcake

*  Green frosting (Mix a few drops of green food coloring into white butter cream frosting)

*  Jumbo marshmallow

*  Willy Wonka Runts candy

*  Black Twizzler

*  Cake Mate Sequins Snow flakes

*  Nestlé Toll House Premier White Morsels

Instructions:

–First frost the cupcake with the green frosting

–Place the marshmallow lengthwise and slice into thirds forming 3 circles. This will form Mike’s eyeball. Place one eyeball in the center of the cupcake.

–Find a green candy Runt to form the pupil (attach with some of the green frosting).  Attach one little blue star sequin snowflake to form the center of the pupil.

–Use two of the banana Runts candy pieces to form the little yellow horns.

–For the mouth, cut a 1.5 inch piece of the black Twizzler and place under the eye.  Form the teeth by lining the black Twizzler piece with upside down Nestlé white chocolate chip morsels (the points are facing downward).

Frighteningly cute!

Sulley cupcakes

Monsters University Sulley cupcake

To create Sulley cupcakes you’ll need:

*  Cupcakes

*  Blue frosting

*  Pastry bag and Wilton 22 tip from the Wilton Cupcake Decorating Set

*  Miniature marshmallows

*  Purple gumdrops

*  Willy Wonka Runts candy

*  Black Twizzler

*  Cake Mate Sequins Snow flakes

*  Nestlé Toll House Premier White Morsels

Instructions:

–Mix up some blue frosting (For this we added blue food coloring — about five drops — with 1 drop of red to about 1.5 cups of our frosting. Experiment until you are happy with the color).

–Spread some of the blue frosting smoothly on the top half of the cupcake. To create the beard, add some of the frosting to the pastry bag with the 22 tip attached.  Using the bachelor button technique, create the beard along the bottom half of the cupcake (it really is easy)!

–For the eyes, place a miniature marshmallow lengthwise and cut in half.  Place on the cupcake to form Sulley’s eyeballs.  Two blue Cake Mate Sequin Snowflakes attached with frosting will form the pupils.

–Cut the purple gumdrop in half to form the nose.

–A 1.5 inch piece of the black Twizzler will form the mouth.

–Place the Nestle white morsels along the top side of the black Twizzler to form the teeth.

–Two pieces of yellow banana Runts candy will form the horns.

–Use the 22 tip to make the eyebrows, squeezing out little eyebrows about 1/2-inch thick.

Petrifyingly precious!

Feel free to use my photos, pin, and enjoy as you wish!  I only ask that you link back to this post if you include them on your website.  Thank you!
