Disclosure: Disney provided me with Minnie’s Happy Helpers DVD, releasing on July 25, for review purposes.
As a mom, I have to admit that I would not mind having Minnie’s Happy Helpers around. My world is filled with the Disney Junior cast of characters, and Minnie and Daisy have been favorites of my daughter’s for years. In their latest appearance, the extremely fashionable mouse and duck duo have created a business with the purpose of helping others. Though they experience a number of mishaps throughout their assignments, they always manage to find clever solutions, and all turns out well in the end. I would hire them.
The Happy Helpers are part of the new Disney Junior Mickey and the Roadster Racers universe, where the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse gang repair and race hotrods around the world. While Minnie and Daisy participate in the races, the Happy Helpers have their own adventures in stand-alone episodes with Cuckoo-Loca, their pithy bird friend with a Brooklyn accent, assisting them.
Minnie’s Happy Helpers episodes
The new Minnie’s Happy Helpers DVD includes the following episodes:
- Egg-Xasperating! (The duo babysits an egg about to hatch)
- Happy Hula Helpers! (Minnie and Daisy help a girl named Leilani find the perfect gift for her grandfather.)
- Tea Time Trouble! (The girls fix Big Ben.)
- Happy Birthday Helpers!
- Bed, Breakfast and Bungled!
- Gone Fishin’!
- Bonus Episode: Teed Off!
If I had one gripe about Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Roadster Racers, it’s that Minnie and Daisy sometimes come off too much as “helpless females.” But it looks like the writers are working on that, especially with having Minnie and Daisy fix Big Ben while Mickey and the boys get lessons on being perfect gentlemen. Don’t look for a lot of educational substance in these episodes. The Happy Helpers face their challenge, and usually a wacky chase ensues. It’s funny and entertaining for kids 2-7.
