When it comes to Father’s Day, I want to show my husband that this day is all about him. One of my husband’s favorite things to do is relax at home with a really great movie on Blu-ray or DVD, preferably one with adventure and edge-of-your-seat suspense, an intelligent plot and superb acting. Spy thrillers definitely fit the bill. Wouldn’t you like to make your dad or husband feel like one of the suave undercover agents celebrated in espionage films? Why not throw a little Jack Ryan or 007 into his Father’s Day?
The ultimate Father’s Day movie night is in order: a spy movie marathon with espionage-themed goodies!
What to give dad this Father’s Day? #cbias #shop
If your dad is anything like mine, he loves to add the Blu-Ray editions of excellent films to his collection as soon as they are released. This Father’s Day, I’ve concluded that Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is a great gift for Dad because it’s one that you can share together (he’ll love that). You can use it as inspiration to plan your spy-themed movie night.
When I was out shopping for Father’s Day gifts this weekend at Walmart, I found out that Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is releasing on Blu-ray this coming week. I noticed that Walmart is having a really cool exclusive deal to celebrate the release. From Tuesday, June 10, until Saturday, June 14, Walmart’s exclusive release of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is available for just $12.96. An awesome bonus? The Blu-Ray pack includes the well-reviewed film The Italian Job! Two movies for the price of one? I love that!
And the icing on the Father’s Day cake? The deal also includes $15 off sports tickets at Ticketmaster, so that Dad can enjoy another event that he loves after Father’s Day. Talk about the gift that keeps on giving! This is one deal that is going into my shopping cart.
A little about Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. It’s directed by Kenneth Branagh, one of my favorite directors and simply one of the best working in Hollywood today. The movie has an all-star, Oscar-nominated cast, including Kevin Costner, Keira Knightley, and Branagh himself, and starring Chris Pine as the title character. Jack Ryan is a character created by Tom Clancy, considered to be one of the best authors of spy thrillers ever.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is the perfect way to finish your spy-themed Father’s Day movie night with a bang!

Father’s Day Traditional Martini Recipe
2 ounces gin
Splash of dry vermouth
2-3 cups ice
Start with ice: fill your martini shaker with ice, add gin and vermouth. Shake it up!
Strain the martini out of the shaker into a martini glass garnished with olives on a toothpick.
You could double or triple this recipe to make more, depending on the size of your shaker.
It goes without saying that moms get pampered on Mother’s Day, but I’ve always felt that dads get a bit shortchanged on Father’s Day in the pampering department.
Under cover agents love their martinis, so why not shake up a batch for dad? He will feel so cool…and appreciated!
Dad’s famous cocktail meatballs with secret sauce
This is an awesome recipe for cocktail meatballs that my dad created. In his words, these meatballs are addictive!
The secret for the sauce is (shhh!)…grape jelly! Wha…?! I know, but trust me, Dad will love these. They are delicious.
1 bag premade meatballs (found in freezer section)
1 bottle of chili sauce
1/3 cup grape jelly
3 TBSP hickory liquid smoke
Add all ingredients to a crock pot, cook on high for about an hour, longer if you start with frozen meatballs (I recommend defrosting the meatballs first). Stir periodically. The jelly will dissolve into the sauce mixture.
Serve at movie night and ENJOY!
