July 4 is approaching–are you feeling All American? While the sun was high in the sky today and the heat made me feel like melting, I decided I’d make something special to cool off: an apple pie smoothie!
How can the American classic dessert be captured in a blender? Here’s what you’ll need:
2 cinnamon graham crackers
1/2 cup Gerber apple baby food
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup milk
3/4 cup ice
1 tsp cinnamon
This is soo good, and I didn’t even add sugar. First, grind up your graham crackers in the blender. This will replicate your “crust.”
Take out half of the graham cracker crumbs to go on top of your smoothie, leaving the remainder in the blender. Then add your other ingredients: the apple baby food, yogurt, milk, ice and cinnamon.
The Gerber baby food is the secret ingredient that really makes this recipe work — surprise!
Blend ingredients until smooth. Add your graham cracker crumb on top. Voilà, you’ve got an apple pie smoothie!
This is a healthy, filling alternative to other, more sugary desserts. Your kids will love it. Try it on the Fourth, or any time this summer that you need to cool down. Enjoy!
